Oh, this is scary. I think you just started something, but a big thanks for this tip. I am from the old school of using it up before throwing it away. This just adds a few more hours usage out of the needles. Thanks.

I frequently sew using a treadle sewing machine. Some of the needles are very hard to find. This trick will extend the use of a great many needles!

Even if the needle is a wee bit shorter, extending it down a mm will solve 90% of any problem created. Thank you for sharing!

0000 steel wool would do the trick, Wonder if it would work on pins???
