I suggest you call the Grace Company and ask for help.

I have a Janome on a Grace frame...lets see if I can explain it. The Grace frame should come with a carriage, meaning the place the machine will actually sit on, and it sits on the front and rear rails so you can move the machine back and forth. It should sit length wise on the carriage, with the face plate (needle section) facing the front of the carriage, and the handwheel to the back of the carriage. The carriage comes with clamps on it to snap in place and hold the machine in one spot. This is a must! The frame will have hand rails that you can move the machine left to right and back and forth. Practice!!

I should ad. that with less than a 12" throat space, you will only be able to do small designs. This is because the roll up bar for the frame holds more and more quilt space as you go along. I can only do a fairly narrow wave, small loop de loops and small meanders. Most are 4 or 5 inches tall.

I see this post was a while back. i just wanted to add that all you need on a long arm machine is a straight stitch machine I would think about getting a second machine with more harp space to mount on the frame. it would save you the work of pulling off the 830 if you want to use those other features
