I must try it! that is so pretty!! and how do you keep your circle a circle? mine turns out whopper jared......anyway not a circle
|
Janis, your idea for hiding the fastening area with a flower at the candle base is brilliant! And yes, it would work, but I wondered what you will use for the fastening if you don't want anything metal? Maybe those little velcro circles?
Miss Rita - Thank you! And of course you can get it right! It's a lot easier than it looks. Your friends are going to be very impressed and thrilled with their gifts! |

Beautiful pincushion and fantastic instructions.

Thank you Mary! :)
Janis, that is much more practical, that's for sure. I had forgotten how much things get lost with small children. When you finish please send us a picture, because I know a lot of people will love to see what you've done! |
That is really beautiful |
Thank you thank you, for taking the time to do the pdf so the rest of us can make one too. Your cake is so pretty.

That is absolutely the most GORGEOUS pin cushion I have ever seen. It's too pretty though to stick pins in. I would make it just for looks. Thanks for the great tutorial.

I love your pin cushion! it looks like a real cake.
|
Your pincushion is so lovely. Your PDF is very professional looking. Two silly questions: do you leave the cardboard in and do you leave the CD in?
|
Thank you lots2do! Not silly at all...and yes you leave them both in. It helps you keep the circle shape when you pull the gathering tight and it keeps the bottom flat. But if you had a reason to want to take them out, that would be fine too, but probably harder to keep the circle perfect.

lovely pin cushion. Thanks for sharing.
|
Thank you it's a lovely pincushion.
|
So cute but could not open file in that format can you try and save and send another way maybe a text or such.
|
QuiltingJaguar I am really sorry, but after making several attempts, I can't seem to change the format. It seems to route me to having to sign up for some Microsoft program every time I try.
Do you have the same trouble with all PDF files? If not: Did you click right below the picture of the cake on the words in green "How to Make a Cake Pincushion"? if you PM me with your email I will try to work up a non PDF version for you. |
Just beautiful. What a nice gift.

Thanks for the wonderful directions and picture of the darling pincushion cake. I'm thinking that my granddaughters would love the cake as a toy for their play kitchen, but no glass plate! Any ideas of how to make the cake into a birthday cake and put the candles on it? They just love blowing out candles. Making a tube and putting a little yellow 'flame' on it would be no problem, but how to attach the candle to the cake and make it stand up is what I'm trying to figure out. Thanks.
By the way the pin cushion cake is gorgeous !!!! |
I would love to see how this is done but can not take the format you posted it. PDF gives me nothing but symbols.

Hi Jaguar,
Thanks! If you PM me with your email address I can send it to you as an attached file and we can see if that works works for you. Or you could ask a computer wiz how to set up your computer so it will open PDF files. |
Oh that is just adorable. How cute. Thanks for sharing.
|
Thank you! I want to try to make one as it is so pretty!

That is beautiful. Great job with the instructions. Think I will make one for my daughter with leftover material from her wedding dress. She just got a sewing machine from us for Christmas and will need a pin cushion.
|
