Great tutorial. I loved the idea of recycling the divider sheets. You can also use the plastic sheet found in the package of bacon for template material. :)

Thanks so much for this tutorial on making the templates. Especially putting holes at the intersections and drawing sewing lines on the fabric. It all makes sense now and am going to try the Basket in FWS now. As soon as I can get to Michael's to get that teeny-tiny hole punch!

Thanks for this tutorial. I was just thinking about doing some templates. We go through about 9 gallons of milk a week so I am going to cut them down and use that plastic. I got a nifty little tool to open plastic packages at the dollar store. It will be great to cut down the jugs. Finally a use for all of that plastic.
My Mother in law gets xray film from out Dr. to make hers. It works great too. |
I use the plastic gallon jugs too. Two of the sides are big enough for some of those small templates you want to trace from magazines, etc.

Thank you for such a great tutorial. I usually recycle old manila folders for my templates, but like the plastic idea. Will look for the teeny hole punch at JoAnns.

I found the teeny 1/16 inch hole punch at Michael's in the scrapbook section, with the brand name of Martha Stewart on it. About 6 bucks.

What a great idea! I am reading all the posts as I am a new quilter and attempting to make the Farmers Wife Quilt Sampler after I get a grip on understanding what needs to be done to cut pieces!
