Thanks everyone for getting me the help I need!

That dress is amazing!
The pattern for it is very nice. Not real complicated though I never liked collars. Her attention to detail is apparent, and the amount of sewing involved in the finished product is mind boggling! Wow!   |
I have saved the site! What terrific projects! I have recently started to collect my selvedges, so will be looking for a project in the near future!

I love these especially the dress!!

How about a Selvage Bag?
My wife made one. I’m not sure what bag pattern that she used, but there are several that would work. She made blocks as she accumulated selvage edges, and made the bag when she had enough blocks assembled. CD in Oklahoma Bear's Selvage Bag |

A purse for fabric shopping or quilt shows. Wow, thank your wife for me, please. :-D |
Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!!

The selvage bag is exceptional! Love it.

She just recently put on a presentation for a local Quilt Guild on how to make the best use of your scraps to get the most out of your fabric dollar, and she used the Selvage Bag as one of her samples. The handles are from Moda Jelly Roll ties. We are a Fabric Shop, and know about the cost of fabric, so she does what she can to help her customers get the most for their money. CD in Oklahoma |
I love this post! Not sure how much I would make, but they are very interesting! Creative ideas!

I need to start saving my salvage. I will. When I have enough I will post and send to whoever responds first. Now to dig out of the trash what I just trimmed. Thanks for inspiring me to do something with it.

Amazing what quilters can come up with. I had a request once to save my selveges for someone who was making items to sell at our local quilt show. Had no idea what she made with them.
If my mom were still alive, she would be so proud of all of you. She constantly told us "waste not, want not". I will never throw away a selveage again. I love the bag idea. |

Here is a simple table topper using a Snibbles pattern that I did with selvages. You can sew selvages together and then cut up like fabric......a great way to work outside the box.....:)

Selvage block quilt
|
I tie up the patio plants with the selvege strips.
|
You could also make a basket by weaving it around coils of wash line.
|
Love the bag idea.
The table topper is also very nice. |

How wide do you usually cut the selvedges? I must not be doing it right....mine are not nearly wide enough to use for anything....
|
I cut my selvages anywhere from 1 1/2" to 4" depending on how much of the fabric I want showing.
I don't bother with any selvage that doesn't have at least a scant 1/4" at the edge. They've outgrown their 15" square box. I buy way too much fabric. |
