Wow! Thanks for the great tute! I have a bunch of yellow and orange scraps I think I will try this out, but balance it with some blues and reds.

This is such a nice and easy looking way to do it. I'll have to wait til I get more scraps.

Thank you, jeaninmaine!! I just had to come up with a faster way to do this block and I love the way it turned out! It won't take very long to get scraps -- they multiply when we're not looking!!

:D :D 8-) ;-) ;-)

I know, I put up a message in the classifieds and I'm going to trade with a few of the other quilters so that should bring me up to scratch.

I like what you did with the black tones, I wonder what it would look like if you went up to the black and then back down to the lights, it should give it a curvy look. I'm going to try it when I can set up my machine and get started.

I had to go back to the pic of my quilt on pg. 1 several times to study it to see how that would look. I believe it would be very interesting looking!! I do believe you mean 'in a gradated sequence' where the next strip is darker than its previous one. I think it would look great if that's what you meant! I loved giving the impression that the block was 'framed' at the corners using the dark fabrics carefully so as to not 'overpower' anything. Most things in art are just an illusion anyway and I really loved 'semi-frame' look to the corners, however, really dark strips (the next to the last one) in each corner would really give it a "pow" look or a wow look too! haha. BTW, let me know if you need more scraps as I have plenty!! I would love to swap scraps to get some shades I don't have, but I've been dwindling down in quilting -- guess I'm at a crossroads. lol. Is it time for me to put quilting up? I'm at that point but I guess we all reach it at some time or other. lol. Anyway, would be glad to share some scraps!

:D :D ;-) ;)

I think when you have all the talent that you have, it would be a shame to lose your drive. I feel more and more enthusiastic every time I look at some of the quilts that people have come up with. Things have changed so much since the last time I did any sewing. Everything seems brighter and I love it. -jean

Thank you, jean, for the nice compliments!! Yes, it's true! Quilters are producing far better quilts than ever as the QB attests to all the beautiful work the ladies at this forum do! We are so inspired by what we see that it does create an enthusiasm equal to none so it will be hard for me to say goodbye to quilting just yet. Hope I can stay with it til the end!! Thanks for your encouragement!! Forever grateful, n2!

:D :D

Thanks, everyone; I feel better now. When I first decided to do this, I thought it might look "tacky," since all I had ever seen were 2-color pineapples. That was in the Linda Causee L.Cabin Book.
I got my pattern from Quilter's Cache--16" block. I have it all ready to start stiching. I love the pattern, and am excited to get started on it.
Thanks again!
Mariah.

Thank you, Mariah! The block in QC is for use with templates! I show how to do this block with NO templates or PP or squaring up as it becomes WONKY and is nothing like QC's pattern! This is a fun block to do too and all pineapples turn out great no matter the technique; it's just an exciting block to do! Hope you have fun with the QC pattern, but would love for you to give my technique a try too sometime! You will love its freedom in making! Be sure and post pics for all to enjoy when you finish!

:-D :-D 8-)
