I've wondered that same thing. I think you could go a little larger, maybe 10" or so, but I don't think I would go much bigger than that. I would be worried about that window fabric being larger and not being quilted in the middle might look kind of loose if you get it too big.

Here's one more pic that I wanted to post to this tutorial. It shows how it looks when the two rows of blocks are joined together. As you can see, when you join two rows it creates another set of windows over the joint between the two rows of blocks.

Did you ever think of putting on a piece of batting before turning the fabric inside out? Do you know what I mean? Just to make a warmer softer blanket?

This will be the pattern for a new mantel scarf - a small item but a good learning project.

Don't quite know where the alternate color comes in to play - will work on it.

WONDERFUL !!!! Years ago I, too, wanted to make a cathedral window quilt...got as far as a pillow top size...made the pillow (which I DEARLY LOVE)...but still wish for a quilt. THIS TUTORIAL MAY JUST DO IT !!!! THANKS !!!!!!!
