I was asked a while back (on pg 18) to add these pics here, and I just got the pics taken last night. Sorry it took so long. This CW was hand stitched more than 30 years ago by my best friends mother.
The front of this CW can be found here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-88033-1.htm

It depends largely on the size of blocks you intend to make, since if you're making smaller blocks you'll have more seams and thus need more fabric. But assume for the moment that you want to use 4" blocks -- that would make your resulting quilt either 88" or 92" square. Let's go with 92" for this example. A 92" square quilt would have 529 blocks in it (92" / 4" = 23 blocks per row * 23 rows). Each 4" block would start as an 8.5" square of fabric. You could get 5 squares of fabric from each WOF strip when cutting selvage to selvage. So, 529 / 5 = 105.8, so round up to 106 strips of WOF needed. Each WOF strip is 8.5" so you need 901 linear inches of fabric (8.5" x 106). Divided by 36" per yard, that comes to 25.03 yards of background fabric required. That sounds like a lot, but remember you need no batting or backing fabric for this type of quilt.

Thanks Eddie I knew it would be a lot but really like the method you use have been wanting to do a cathedral window but did not want to do so much hand work love the machine method

I was taught this same method except for tacking down the centers with the machine and sewing the "windows" with the machine. I'm doing one now that I designed using the cathedral window block and the secret garden block. I'm using an oriental type of fabric with gray, white and red and black. It's turning out quiet nice. I do the windows by hand and it is relaxing. I won't try the machine on the windows until the next quilt so that it'll be all the same. Thanks for the tut

This is amazing!!!! You are truly kind and generous to put this much effort into helping us-- not letting your light stay under a bushel. I must have been "cat-atonic" once because I bought several fat quarters having cat pictures on them not an idea how to use them. You've solved my problem; I will fussy cut the cats and put one in each attic 'window'. I may try plant fabric for the basic area to make the cat windows look like they are amidst the plants. Ureeka!! I too appreciate the measurements to buy the fabric. You seem like a person who finds joy in helping others. I think that is double the happiness --happiness for the person who is helped and happiness for the person doing the helping. Thank you, thank you. from zoeytoo..

Thanks so much, Eddie, for a most wonderful and clear tutorial.
Never would have attempted this without your very concise instructions.

What a smashing border print to pull all your colors from, exciting and beautiful. What was your finished size? how will you finish the back of the border, since the CW is already finished?

I just want to know if you are married! If not, I am available as soon as I can get there! ;D Any man that can communicate that well and be so patient- is a man of MINE! Oh... and the bonus--- HE QUILTS! Yep, I am in love!

Seriously though-- I did a quilt a few years back before I had to quit quilting (A CW is one of my FAVES!). Anyway-- I couldn't remember how to do it the 'easy' way~ although this one is not the same pattern-- it is simple and doable! I LOVE it! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and your patience!

Yeah.... give me a call lmk when I can move in! LOL
