Isn't it great how someone always knows where to find a pattern! I want to make a few blocks too.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know there was a challenge - and so worthwhile!!

I didn't know of this either - thank you. I have now downloaded the instructions and plan to spend my afternoon making several of these to send off. My DH is a former Marine.

To get the link mentioned, make sure you have PDF downloaded on your computer, you shouldn't have any trouble then. It's free on the net, just type in PDF...

Keep making quilts for veterans. These "wars" seems to have no end.

Thank you SO much for posting this. I'm passing this around to all the ladies that I taught to quilt and hope we can get a good bundle together. What a great cause. My husband served 4 tours of duty overseas and my SIL is on his second tour. Thanks again!!!!

Here is a photo of the directions. I hesitate typing them in myself as something always get typed wrong and these have pics. I hope everyone can read this.:) If you just right click and click on copy image and save to a work doc I think it will print out fine.

I, too, was unaware of this challenge. I've printed off the directions and will ask all the quilters I know to make at least one block. Great idea!

I usually right click pdf files and open in a new tab.

I am going to a Quilt Day Saturday and we are going to make the One Star pattern for the project. It will be fun to see how many we can get done

gertz 03-18-2011 05:06 PM

Our group just sent in 18 blocks, enough for one quilt. We were honored to participate.

Yesterday our group completed 15 stars and one of the ladies had her after school program kids make 14 more. The kids sew for charities like book bags for Africa and they loved doing the stars. Ours will be on the way this week

missgigglewings 03-20-2011 06:08 AM

I cannot pass up this opportunity! All anyone has to do is mention "wounded warriors" and here I go again! So, today after church I will make as many as I can and get them mailed off tomorrow.

Thanks for posting your question!

Beebonnet 03-20-2011 08:34 AM

I am doing this for sure. In fact, I will take it to my quilt club and show them. Also give them the web address. Thanks
