This is my first tutorial, so I hope everyone understands it. I took lots of pics...lol.

cut 2 fabrics at 12x8, 2 at 9.5x8, and one 3x14

this is going to be the handle

fold it in half and sew along the edge

turn it back right side out and iron flat. Sew along each side for it to keep it's shape.

sew a top and a bottom together with the zipper

being sewn together

flip the zipper back over and sew along the edge

lay it on the other fabric you have cut out and sew along it

on the side that is longer, pin the strap(folded in half)right above the zipper

I sew over the handle and zipper at least 2 times for stability

turn right side out and your done...I hope you enjoy this tute and show me when you guys make some!!! :)

after you sew it, you flip it over and sew along the zipper just like the other side

fold fabric in half

at this step make sure the zipper in in so after you sew it, you can open it

finish sewing on the three sides that are open

after it is sewn, I clip off the corners so it looks nice when it's turned

the zipper was way longer than what I needed. I'm not sure how long it was, I never measured it. All I needed to know was that it was longer than my project I was making. (plus...I only had 2 zippers left and one was two inches to short)

hperttula123 10-24-2010 08:04 AM

Yes, it really could be used for anything. I just made it the size to fit the large diapers and a case.

Deb53 10-25-2010 10:06 AM

Oh thanks for sharing. I need to make one for my daughter in waterproof fabric (there's a name for it) so wet diapers can be carried home, or wet/messy clothes.
She has two little ones, 18 and 5 months old.

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Lol, I guess I'm not the only one that can't stop making them. I ran out of zippers and ordered a bunch more so I can keep going....lol.

They are very easy to make. The little extras are nice to go with it. You can make it out of the same fabrics in the quilts so they match.
My zippers showed up today(I ran out making these)so I get to make more now. I got enough zippers to last a while...lol.

love it...

so FUN!!!
As I was looking at your pictures, I was thinking - - "she sure handles that zipper like she was born to it!"
Zippers are supposed to be scarey, correct???
you were just so calm ....
I do have one question, and I think I read through the tutorial a couple of times, and may have missed it:

you used two fabrics, cut, and you gave the sizes . .. one is the "left" side and one is the "right" size ...
Did I miss the part about putting the fabrics wrong sides together before sewing the zipper in?

I really appreciate this tutorial. As others have observed, it is a fun project, and looks easy enough (wherever did I put those zippers?) .... you made it look so easy. Thank you for sharing <wave>

I didn't mention it in there, but your right. They are supposed to be wrong sides together. I can see it in the pic, but not sure if anyone else can. :)
