Needle case simplified

I thought there was a way to do the needle case without turning and just pinked edges. If you like how it looks, this is how I did it.

I put my fabric right sides out and traced the outline for the case. I used my 1/4 inch foot to top stitch 1/4 inch in from the outline. I also cut my yellow felt out.

Since I had problems with the hook Velcro, I decided to put a buttonhole. If you would rather do Velcro you can. I stitched the buttonhole before using my scissors to cut out the shape slightly beyond my chalk mark. I did this because I wanted to fold up the shape and then pink the edges all at once. I did have to finish the pink edges in the center after it was folded out.

I centered my felt and marked the intersections with my Frixion pen and stitched the fold lines. I then folded and ironed it into shape. When I was satisfied with the folds, I put in a pin to hold it and pinked the outer edges. I opened it up to finish the edges that are hidden when folded. Be careful when pinking that you do not cut any of your top stitching.

Sew on you button and it is done.
Important Note:if you decide to do Velcro, the Velcro is sewn on BEFORE you sew on the felt. |
That is too cute! Thanks for the tute.
(I really didn't mean to put a cheesy rhyme in there <g>) |
I might be a little dense, but do you need a button and a button hole if you have velcro?
These are just way too cute and I have everything on hand. Could you use a nice thick flannel instead of the felt? Marcia |
I sew with a group and I think I need to make a few of these! Thanks for posting.
