Quiltingboard Forums - Pincushion Sewing Kit from an empty Quaker Oats container!

Natalie, one of the small circles is the bottom of the pincushion section. It is uppermost on the right side of the patterns and says: 3 3/8" Bottom of pincushion, cut one of cardboard, no fabric. The fabric that you will use for the pincushion portion is listed as 5 5/8". Put a good chunk of fiberfill between the cardboard and the fabric (after having put a running stitch around it). Pull the threads tight so it gathers against the cardboard. This is what you will push into the top. It is not even necessary to put glue on the cardboard bottom, it will stay put. You can choose to glue it if you want, but make one first without glue so you get the idea.

The green picture with the needle is the top with a piece of fabric wrapped around the plastic ring to cover it. Pulling the fabric around the ring requires a few stitches to help hold it because the glue is not strong enough. After you have covered the plastic, you will glue the fabric edges down inside the plastic ring on the upper side and up under the plastic ring on the lower side. After you have put the fabric around the plastic ring you can take the pincushion that you made and pop it onto the top, forcing the cardboard part into the fabric covered plastic ring.
