so glad I got to read this. :)
Not only am I going to use all these tips for my quilting, but I am going to start
saving a TON on paper etc. with the grandmouslings!
Also, thank you so much for showing the picture with the shower board over
the insulation, as very soon I was going to cut my insulation and fight with
covering it with vinyl.

I had read that someone on here had done this and she has an indention
where her hand rests.
THANK YOU!
:)
My surface can now stay smooth and depression free, lol! ;)

I like your idea for a table and practice quilting block. How do you cut this to fit your machine. I would love to have one of those extensions for my machine, but no intention of spending big bucks that I don't have.

Grace, I would try using freezer paper and put your machine on it and
trace around it for a template.
Of course, then you use the template to cut your wallboard the size you want.

I just measured my machine and cut out the lower right hand corner of the board using those measurements, though using freezer paper would certainly work as well ! My total cost for my table ( I already had the old rectangle kitchen table ) was roughly $30 for the foam insulation and the wallboard. and it gave me lots of left over of both !

Reckon you can tell I've come late to this post but none the less impressed with the great ideas! Thank you, thank you!
