Why do you need the paper for this type of piecing? I'm still new and some things are not clear.

why do you have to use the paper thanks

I'm not into using paper for foundation for string quilts, but that is me.

I prefer to use a cheap muslin or ugly fabric on hand that I don't want to use for a quilt top or backing.

I do love this idea tho, of a long strip for borders etc. I'll definitely use this technique but with fabric instead of paper.

thanks for sharing!
