The tilde border -using QuiltnNan's name - update on post #8

I recently did some of the strips on another project - just one center and two ends, but it would work very well for this border:
Sew ends to center the same diagonal way you would sew binding pieces into a strip (45deg angle), watching out which direction to join! Attachment 498013 |
Interesting border treatment.

I, also, do not have Microsoft Word, but I do have Office Suite X. It is a free download I got from my geeky friends and they swear it is safe. They know I'm an idiot!! It will open pretty much anything. Hope this helps whoever might need it. http://www.siteadvisor.com/restricte...os_ver=6.1.0.0

“Tilde” border
We all loved the border on DianneF’s “a quilt for auction at a craft fair” posted today. I played around with strips I had (5” x 2” so it looks different) and using a method I learned recently this is my ”mock-up” that seems to work well. Fiddly and there must be no distractions as you will need to pay attention to placement of the strips when sewing together. Basically you use the same “diagonal” method as you do for sewing binding strips together. Notice reversing of the colors. Open and press (forgot to take picture of one unit, but I know you can figure it out) Now join units together – here’s where you really need to watch the unit to be added to get the angle correct! Use same diagonal join. Again open and press. Remember to reverse your units. I did 3pc units then sewed them together into the length I needed, but you can make one unit and just add single strips to it as you go. (See next post) |

To line up as per DianneF’s, note the bottom left white dotted fabric and how it lines up with the angle of the 2nd white in the row above – and so it goes! Please PM me if I can explain anything! :o |
Sorry! Re-posted here above.
