I'm sure you could make one out of template plastic, but since money isn't that much of an issue for me, and time is, I would rather just buy what works for me. Besides I love sewing gadgets. what a clever idea. I had not thought ever of trying to do that! (but of course with making big quilts, I am much the amateur (speilling?) and it seems it would be so much easier to use the backing with the fabric brought forward for binding. I really like that idea. Now to find that tool in my little city. 8000 population if you count the inmates in the prison 7 miles down the road. giggling

I must be dumb because I can't tell what you're doing between steps one and two. What did you do with the tool?

Just bought all the different corner rulers. I can do it without, but it is so much easier with the right tools.

I use the 60 degree line on my long ruler and make sure I slice off the fabric 1/4" above the corner point of my quilt top.

But, I'm thinking of buying that tool now since it will make it easier.

Wow thanks for the info what a neat tool I just got done
printing out the info and will be looking to buy the tool.

I also have just used the traditional method.

I drew a line on the fabric where the edge of the tool is. Then you fold and stitch on the line.
