Default Sewing Selvedges

I have had a few requests on how I sew the selvedges when I make my selvedge quilts. Here is a quick tutorial showing how I sew each selvedge. I use tracing vilene as a foundation but you can use paper or muslin if you prefer.

I love sewing selvages and then using the fabric. I am wondering if when washed these will scrunch up a lot on your top fabric or do they lay flat still? Thanks for the tutorial, very cute butterflies.

I love the first one!!! My kids live in the mtns. and I would love to make them one. Probably a table runner. Could you tell me where you got the pattern for it, please? thanks for your consideration.

Thanks much for the tutorial.

Sewbeadit, I made clothes and used the selvages for the zipper seam and never had any bunching. I have also included the selvages in blocks for my quilts and never had any bunching. I tend to wash my fabric and I have only had the selvages draw up a couple of times (really cheap fabric).
