you can go to the "search" section and type in lil' twister..you will be flooded with responses to look at and read!

there is a also a pattern(link) to doing this without the template and with NO wasted fabric pieces. wish I could find that again!

This pattern looks like a tessalating quilt I made a while back. Here is a pic without the "borders" on. I found these fabrics already cut out with the magazine they came from at a rummage sale for 50 cents. They are all older fabrics (80's and 90's) I believe. I do have the top done but not quilted if you would like to see a pic...I will post it tomorrow.

I do these windmills without the twister tool - no waste, no tools to buy and very quick.

The tutorial link above is a good one for the no-tool method, but the concept is easy to grasp to do them in any size your squares are.

I have to say that I don't see the point of buying a special square and wasting half the fabric when it's easier and more economical to cut the blades by hand!

I agree with you, maggiem, the template that came with the above quilt pic was a blade...no waste there.
