$3 Swap Meet Find - OLD Treadle belt pliers
I had 2 $1 bills and he asked for 3.
I asked if he wanted to break a $100 for that $1.
He said sure... Well, all right then.
I got them home and got the rust off.. I'm good with $3...

How old are those pliers likely to be?
I love the breaking the $100 story. Quirky people are excellent.
Your pliers remind me, I have a pair of parallel pliers which are gucky and unsmooth. I feel inspired to try again to breather new life into them. What does the Steve Treatment entail. Trigh Flough?

since the metal was high quality steel, I just wire-wheeled it clean. Then a once over with Brasso for the nooks and crannies.
Unfortunately, the patent date ONLY means that it could not have been made PRIOR to the newest date. They may have made this model with no other patents referenced for 40 more years for all I know.
