Found a Singer No. 65 Cabinet for relatively cheap near enough to me to go look. For $20, I got myself a more amenable cabinet/desk in fairly good shape... but it also had a vintage 15-90 with book, buttonholer, and a few 15 bobbins. The machine looks beautiful and it runs well already!

Thinking when I'm done fixing up the 201's I picked up the other week one will probably end up in this cabinet... but I'm really liking the look of this unexpected sewing machine pick up as well. I know with the space I have there is no way I'm keeping all of them -- but now I'm going to have to decide which to keep?

If anyone has any opinions and the "whys" to them I'd appreciate some input!

Keep the machine that uses compatible bobbins with what ever else you have. All good machines.

You should keep one of each, of course.

Is it a 15-90 or 15-91? Does it have an external motor with a belt (15-90) or with a potted motor like the 201 (15-91)?

There have been a couple of threads about these same machines
201 or 15? and Which Singer 201, 66 or 15? there have been a few chimed in about the ones they like.

If you really do need to only keep one, I would think the one you like best for the type of sewing you do.

Nice thought Miriam, but I've got about the same number of bobbins for both machines. lol

The book itself says 15-90, but it looks like the 15-91. I was wondering that earlier as I was looking at it, and as mentioned when I got there to pick up the desk and stool -- was pleasantly surprised when she said "the machine still works I just don't have room"... so now I'm looking at spending the day in my shop tomorrow cleaning the desk up, not certain what I'm going to do with the stool as one side is missing all of it's veneer -- though it is the perfect height to sit and work at the desk with the knee lever... also something new to me to see if I'm going to keep that or hook it up to a foot pedal.

Added note, I went from 1 simple nice straight stitcher with my 404 to suddenly having 5 machines. I laughed when I read folks referencing their "herd" but I'm definitely getting it now. Just a matter that I am in a limited space so trying to be semi-smart and not keep them all... though I really want to!

I have a hard time narrowing it all down, too. Which one for travel? I have a beat up old Singer 15-75 that might sew through cast iron... well hem jeans anyway. Then I like an old light weight Elna that only does a few basic stitches but I love sewing light weight fabrics on it. But my Singer 66 does best of any for button holes. For seeing what I am sewing, i have a Singer 403 that I love for nearly anything but the really heavy stuff that the 15-75 gobbles up. Those are my top picks.... but then there is a really nice Japanese machine that does so well for free motion.... and I do have a Singer 221 and a 201... i never seem to use them and I don’t know why. I think you have to go with what machine you go to. Leave them all set up and see what you use. Remember factory machines are set up for a task.

Maybe I can just get rid of the bed... then perhaps I could keep them all! lol

Of course my pup may not be too keen on that arrangement...
