This was the replacement of the 99K believe it or not...

Nice machine though, I have one too.
The 285's were terrible, but the 185's are terrific and sew as well as the 99's.

I have the 185J in it's original green case. Picked it up at our local Salvation Army. The case was filthy but cleaned up beautifully and the machine looked like it was barely used. I had my FIL build me a wooden base for it so I could preserve the case but still use the machine. The 60 year old plastic in the base is starting to crumble a little bit. It sews beautifully! And looks so cute sitting out in my sewing room. It's one of my favorite machines.
