Pfaff 130 Motor L-Bracket
I bought a Pfaff 130 for $4 at an Antique Mall. I decided to do it for the sheer pleasure of not having invested a lot of money so I could take it apart and learn a little bit about the machine. Now, of course, it's become an addiction. My first question is: can anyone provide a picture of the L-bracket that holds the motor? The machine did not have a motor or motor bracket. It seems to me I'm looking for a needle in a haystack. I either move forward electrically, move forward as a treadle, or stop.

The best I can do quickly is to give you a link to the blog page where I rewired a Pfaff 130 w/coffee grinder back in April. (I have 4 followers - no ads - not for money) You can the pic here. The second photo shows part of the original bracket. I should say, however, that most normal "L" brackets will work, I have a 1.5 amp motor and bracket from an old Wards machine on my Pfaff model 30. The 130 mounting lug will accept many other makers brackets.

So weird that you would mention a Wards machine. It turns out I have a vintage Wards machine and took that bracket off just this morning. Imagine my disappointment, though.. its not deep enough to go around the machine. The 130 is wider. As a result the bracket doesn't clear the corner.

No problem. It must have been a different Wards machine. It wouldn't have followed me home if hadn't been for that 1.5 amp motor... I guess I got lucky, or perhaps there is a difference between the 30 and 130 mounts or pillar thickness... or something. (The Wards is on the 30). All we can do is try right? =)

SteelSewing, this is true. I've learned more from trying than anything else. The motor on this wards machine is 1.3. On the underside of the machine it says Sewing Head Model 82. Made in Japan. I really don't know anything about Wards machines. Yet.
