Default 221 Singer featherweight sewing machine

Just bought a 221 singer sewing machine. I cleaned, oiled and greesed gears. Its working and sounds good. My question to who ever can answer it is that while testing the stitching, the bobbin thread was very very loopy! tighten the tension all the way to 0. None of my other machines are that way. So my question is that normal?

0 is no tension. Try moving it to 5 and see if that helps anything.

Bobbin threads can be like that if it isn't put together correctly. Tammi has made a really good video. Take it apart and clean it up - it should work perfectly when you are done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzFX...AyBQ2l-Mzkw7ew she has more than one video. You will have to be able to follow directions.

Did you check to see that the bobbin is spinning in the right direction? I've made that mistake - put the bobbin in backwards...

My first question is whether it's really the bobbin thread doing it, or the top thread.

Here's some info on tension in general and how to troubleshoot it:

ETA: No, loops are never normal. Loops mean that the seam is too loose and will not hold.
