Another great idea! All my machines (and I don't have THAT many) have back stories that are interesting, and I have been considering whether to document them in a blog.
The receipt was included. She bought it in 1986 for $440. In 1986 our family of 3 was getting by on less than $8000/year and that would have seemed like a princely sum to me.

Beautiful! I have one just like it! The stitches are amazing. I would cry with happiness if that happened to me. You are a lucky person. Mine was unloved at an old antique shop. She was covered with dirt and muck. I brought her home, cleaned her up, and now she's running beautifully.
