Default Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye. Miss Piggy

Please feel free to post pictures of your ugly but working sewing machine. Mine feels all alone... and YES this is the AFTER picture. ew I should have shot a before picture but I was shaking so bad from the NEED to fix this thing... maybe therapy..... It was not ALL rusted just the slide plates and the bed. They are both very pitted. The repaint was coming up off the bed so I wire brushed it. It is down to bare metal in places and crud in others. I will need to see if my BIL wants to repaint a sewing machine. If not maybe the DGDs can use nail polish and paint flowers or something on there.

But don't laugh she sews.
I got this one because it came with a nice puzzle box. Then since I can't leave things alone I made it sew.

I have further discussion of this machine here:

and proof she sews:

I don't know if this will let me post another ugly machine picture or not but I'll try.

yes the whole case is fashionably covered in contact paper - this machine rocks???
The machine base is very scarred up. BUT she sews quietly, smoothly and makes great stitches.

My ugliest but still sewing machine is my New Home Mdl AB, "Minni".

Here is her story: { http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...l-t187261.html }

I recently got a new shuttle and a New Home badged Hamilton Beech hinged motor for it. The shuttle will help as the original was worn out. The motor just fills a "want" I had for my collection. I just need a screw for the mount.

Oh and she does make a very nice stitch, too.

Still hard to see the rash in pictures - it's all over that bed.

Miriam please don't paint your machine. I love that logo. I also think that it says something very positive about that machine that it's been used that hard twice and it still sews. I think it's earned every bare spot on it's bed and the most likely second round of pin rash on it's arm and I would just leave it alone.
My ugliest machine hasn't been made to sew again yet. Give me some time.

Rodney, If I paint it I would just paint the bed. It is totally bare and rust gets on everything it touches. I want to keep the decals on the pillar and the arm even though the paint is kind of icky.

Rust is a problem and I'm sure you don't use it often enough to keep it off.
