I tried searching this forum, but had no luck.
My Bernina 930 is currently being used as my backup machine. It sews beautifully, but does not stop stitching when I take pressure off of the foot control-it takes a few extra stitches. It should stop with the needle up, but does not always do that. I took it to a certified tech many years ago with this same issue, and was told they could not fix the issue. I live in a rural area, so not a lot of choices around. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I an afraid you might not get help here. It is too new for most of us. but hang on for a while. many of us have newer machines, too.

I had no luck at all with Bernina techs with fixing my 930. I finally found a retired guy who used to have a Bernina store and did sewing machine repair out of his home. He knew exactly what the problem was and now I'm just looking for a new needle bar for it. Techs are trained to work on the machines made in the last 20 years or so. They don't necessarily know the old ones. If you can find an older OSMG, they might be able to help you.

It sounds to me like you need to have the petal oiled and cleaned.

The needle-up clutch is easy to adjust. The only reason it might not be repairable is if the pin in the hand wheel shaft is broken off. We had one in the shop last week with the pin broken off, and The Boss was able to drill it out and put a new pin in. Private message me if you need help adjusting the needle-up clutch.

If it continues to sew after you let up on the foot control, you might need to replace the foot control. The foot control is available through Brewer Sewing Supply for $199. The part number is 0026417012. You might be able to find it for less somewhere else.

Thank you so much for your replies! The tech told me the pedal was fine…but who knows.
Every once in awhile, while stitching, the machine will “click”, literally, and it works fine…until I turn it off!

When you remove the lid, look inside the handwheel end. If that black, plastic arm is broken, that could cause the problem. You can lift it up partially and check to see if anything is broken on it. If it is broken, you might need to find a Bernina OSMG with a bone yard, who can strip a part off an old 930. Wish you were in Utah. I know a guy who could fix you up.
