yup I have looked at that, Still don't understand what is up with that lump on the back of the machine, and it looks as though there is something weird going on the left side or nose of the machine, it looks as though there is an openeing for some sort of bobbin there or gear or something, I was kind of hoping someone had first hand experience with them .

ISMACS says it is a dual rotary thread take up, I am not sure that the left end of the machine is complete... also they are pretty high speed ( like 5,000 spm )

Interesting Candace, that very machine ( same add) was on ebay last week, though I think is was cheaper. they look cool, but I cant for the life of me figure out why I would need one.

yes, at least as far as I can find, but very very fast at it ;-) and bottom feed as well, no needle or walking foot. though there was a whole series of "dash numbers" ie: 400w1 w2 etc and some of them were adapted to heavier needles and roller feet etc .

This machine is a compound feed and lockstitch machine that is used in making work shirts, overalls and raincoats. Clothing in general. It says that the compound feed means it has a needle feed as well as a drop feed. It has on the front of it a thread severing finger so you don't have to cut the thread yourself. it is similar to the 402 W and here's a link to the manual I found to tell you all about it.
