Default Value of “The Elgin” The Jarrell Company

I have a vintage sewing machine and not sure how to find the value. It is in a vintage table built in and pops up. Can anyone tell me who I could contact to get more info on value? “The Elgin” The Jarrell Company . Thank you

It's my experience that treadle machines aren't worth much unless they are spectacularly beautiful (I saw a pristine Singer 66 Redeye go for $350.00 about 10 years ago). There is not much demand for used sewing machines, much less treadle machines.

You know, almost no one sews anymore. The young are generally not picking it up as a hobby.

However, unless someone's Nana had an Elgin and that someone is nostalgic, it might be hard to find a buyer. The last unknown brand treadle I saw in an estate sale didn't sell. I think they would have given it away, but I didn't want it.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. I hope so.

In addition to what bkay said, I would suggest you read this thread http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...d-t265780.html or https://doubleveil.net/zssmp/worth.htm
Does it have a manual? Does it have attachments? When was the last time it was used? Have you checked classified ads for similar? Not what they are asking, but what they actually sold for!

I agree with bkay and Janey. There's not a huge market for treadles now. The last one I saw sell, was a beautiful Singer (I can't remember the model) fully restored, in a completely restored table. It sold for $250. This was about 2 years ago. Sad to say, there are only a few models worth much.
