You'll have better luck searching for information about cams, though I agree they should be called cogs. You'll need to do some research. Cams are specific to certain brands- Kenmore, Singer, etc. Some carry over to other models, others don't. Check your manual for setting your machine's controls for using cams. Cams are easy and fun to use.

Singer had maybe 3 or so kinds of disks that I know of. The machines that take a certain kind will sometimes interchange with the machines that take the same kind of disk. For example the 401 will use the same 'top hat' disks as the Touch 'n' Sew. There are some Touch 'n' Sew machines that use an additional type of white disk and it will not work on the 401. The Singer 319 uses flat disks and so do some other Singers - some that will use the flat disks are older and some are newer machines than the ones that use top hats. Other companies had their own disks but their disks will not interchange with Singer or any other company that I know of. Chances are that if you put the disk in it will either fit or not because of the way the disks are made. I doubt if it will break the machine but it might break a disk if you try to force it. The disks are shaped to fit on the spindle if it looks wrong - it is wrong.

Miz Mary,

Check out the link I put in your other thread if you haven't done it already. Your machine uses the flat cams. Other Singers that use that cam are the 319K, 338, 538 and I'm sure others.
