Default Kenmore made in Japan ,maybe a 1660

I snatched a vintage kenmore up for $9.99 at my local goodwill because it had cords, foot pedal and a manual with it. Is this something I should be hanging onto for myself for heavy duty sewing?

I learned on a vintage Kenmore, it's the best machine I've ever owned. I like a vintage White for alterations since I don't have space for my cabinet Kenmore right now...it's in storage at moms. I'd say give it a try even for piecing. Mine is a dream to work with...not the new Kenmore/Janome I got for a gift but the heavy metal one from the (?)50s. It's AWESOME!

What model Kenmore?? Sure would like to see a picture. Sounds like a keeper to me. Clean and give some oil, then test it to see if it will sew the heavy duty stuff. Be sure to put in a heavy duty needle though.

Someone told me they were made by the Janome Co. Is that true???????? Somebody had to make them for Sears. Is this just an urban legend?
