DH $5 solution for Singer 401A

I have been looking for a cabinet for my baby a Singer 401A and have not had any luck within my budget. I walked in the house today and I see my baby set in a desk. My DH got a desk for $5 at the thrift store cut a whole to fit and this is what I saw.................

That is truly a wonderful surprise! He deserves an extra special something - you decide what.

What a sweet man to do that for you! And look how perfect the placement is, you'll be able to sit right in front of the needle!!
One day, you'll only be a memory for some people. Do your best to be a good one.

He did an amazing job it fits in so tightly there is no wiggle at all, it's right where I would have asked it be. I never realized he was paying that much attention. He got his favorite dinner and I think I have said "Thank You", "GREAT JOB!!!!", "I'm soooooo proud of you", and so on till he seems to be a bit uncomfortable with it now. So had to post one here to give him a break.

I'm showing this to my hubby. He'll say "I can do that." And so I will let him. You have a very thoughtful husband there.

Beautiful job! And like Charlee mentioned, I love that he was thoughtful and observant enough to place the machine on the right side, giving you plenty of room for material on the left and allowing you to sit centered on the needle. I've seen chop-jobs where guys with no sewing experience make tables for machines and instinctively center the machine on the table. Yours looks great!

It looks perfect to me. And you have plenty of room on the left for a quilt. Lucky you!

Nice cabinet. I have a 401A in the original cabinet I bought it in. I made the purchase in 1961, and would not take anything for it.
