It is a slant needle it did sew when I got her and then I don't know what happened, but now when the needle goes down it is hitting the bobbin sew case. Please help she is a beautiful machine.

Try a new needle or minimally reconnect the needle to the needle bar. It probably became loose and slipped down. Also reinstall the bobbin case. If it is not locked in then the needle will hit it, and damage it.

Check the manual and reinstall the bobbin case. I think you don't have the bobbin case installed properly.

Make sure the finger on the bobbin case is between the gap on the underside of the needle plate.

These are all good suggestions. If they don't work, check to be sure you have the correct needle.

That we did okay. that was what broke when my son touched it he broke it. He was trying to force it in position. Ordered one off ebay and yes I did change the needle and it is not hitting the bobbin case now, but it is not catching the bottom thread so that it will sew. I will have to keep playing with it. Thank you all for your help.

Check that you have the needle installed correctly, and that you are threading from the correct direction.

Just a stupid question .............. and maybe not appropriate to sweetpee's problems, but why do so many people have trouble the FW's and 301 bobbin cases? They are not that different. Class 15s have fingers that have to be placed in the right place, Kenmores have to be properly indexed, others as well. It's not rocket science.
Different machines face the needles different ways. No big deal. So why do the FW and 301s seem to be more problematic than others?

I would guess the reason some people have issues with this is that when they put the bobbin case in it 'feels' like it's right so they then go on to sew. "Feeling" right doesn't mean it is right. The case stays in place so people think it's right. I always give my case a little circular twist after it's in. If if moves circular then it's not seated properly. People may think "Okay, it's in correct. It turns." BUT - the case shouldn't turn only the bobbin inside turns.

So...... once you think the case is in correctly - give it a circular twist - if it rotates it's not seated correctly.
