That price seems a little high. My hubby surprised me with one a few weeks ago he found on eBay. He paid $218 with shipping. It came with all the original bobbins, manual, attachments and case. The machine is in beautiful condition and the best of all, when I looked up the serial number on it, it seems to have been manufactured with a lot on Nov. 22, 1946. It just so happens our anniversary is Nov. 22 (23 years later). It was meant to be and sews like a dream. Keep looking - there's a better riced one out there for you somewhere! When you do find one - please post a happy picture of you and your new friend.

If it is a black one it is too high in my opinion. I own three and the highest I paid was $210 for a white one in perfect condition. The lowest was $100 for a black one with all the parts and in perfect condition. They both had cases that were in similar very good conditions. I have had great luck with garage sales and craigs list.

Here in Connecticut and Massachusetts, the prices are $450 and up. Unless you find a real deal somewhere.

Price is relative to each person. If you want it and can affort it go for it. To steep for me :(

I got mine on EBay for $182 and it is complete and purring like a kitten.
I would suggest going to EBay and set it up so that you can watch the prices on several of them offered and then when it comes close to the end of the time you can jump in and bid on one.
If you lose you can always go on to the next one since the auction ending times are different. Just make sure you read everything and ask questions of the seller if you have any. There is a place over to the right on each page where you can do that.

I sell Featherweights in Co. I usually get $300.-- up for the ones that have all the gold decals in tact. They arn't scratched and I put many new parts in them. They are ready to sew when they arrive.

Hello Featherweight,

In your experience, are the taupe/tan featherweights common to find or a bit rare. I have seen ads for two or three over the last few months.

Thanks for your input.

Aardie.
