Default Repair books

Hello. I am not a quilter. I do like sewing and mainly do costumes. Someone on a blog stated that here is a good place for someone that wants to learn to fix sewing machine to ask questions. So, I am interested in learning to fix sewing machines. I am looking for suggestions on great books to learn the basics and beyond. So please give me your tips. Thanks.

Welcome. Maybe we can lure you to the dark side. You just might love quilting.

Are you talking about new machines? Or vintage?
This forum has great info for vintage here:

youtube has videos here for newer machines:

"How to Select, Service, Repair & Maintain Your Vintage Sewing Machine" by Connie McCaffery is a very thorough book. She also has a book on rewiring vintage machines. It's available on Amazon and on her website:

I got McCaffery's book just a little too late. I am a gear head and learned a great deal from diivng in. If I hadn't had the experince it would gave been of great value to me. At it was, it gave me a few more hints.
