Default Willcox & Gibbs vintage

I have an older W&G which I am going to use occasionally. I was trying to date it, but the serial number (?) I think I think I found on it doesn't help me. It has a number A590832. Am I looking in the wrong place for the serial number?

This is what I came up with. Not sure on the number. From what I read here serial numbers were not a priority of W&G. What I also look for is a number on the bottom side of the machine since the number on the top does not seem to show any relevance. http://ismacs.net/willcoxandgibbs/im...ing-guide.html. This will at least give you a bit of info on the machine. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Just came across this thread since I have a thing for W&G machines. I've kept notes when Graham Forsdyke gives out dates for W&G chain stitchers on the ISMACS and groups.io W&G list. Judging from serial numbers on either side of yours, your machine is from 1914.

I just got my W&G fairly recently. I have some stuff that I have saved over the years. One is from http://www.sew2go.com/wgdate.htm which appears to be close to what you indicate.

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.
