Yeah, I can see why he wanted to get rid of that ugly thing to reuse the cabinet. I've never seen a Damascus before, but I want one. Who made it?

Damascus is a badge that Wards used on some of their machines. This particular one is made by National. You will find updated models sold under the same name. Grand usually denoted rotary, while the VS were referred to only as "Damascus".

I have one like that - Joe picked it up for me when he lived in Illinois.

That would be another dead parlor cabinet.

At least he saved all the parts instead of pitching them. I have a Wards desk cabinet that has had all the parts removed and drawers put in place of the treadle parts.

Two neat machines from the same seller:

There's more going on in the background too.

Interesting choice on which parts of the old cabinet to keep...

Whenever I see things like that, a particular Doors song runs through my head every time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRAr354usf8

If you don't mind a quick drive up to Eureka this can be yours.

That's a really good price. Steve's example is an earlier machine and the extra wide table in the back is a nice plus so the higher price is justified. Both are low prices IMO.
