Had To Have A Hand Crank And Found This 15 On Ebay
#1

Bought this one in September. I love it. It's not perfect but it was the perfect price, so I'm happy. The hand crank has Chinese characters on it and says it was made in the Peoples Republic of China. Fun

I love it. Especially the price you mentioned (as in, not priced "out of reach for the average joe"). DH, DS, and I have recently refurbished an old 66 or 15, (I get them mixed up all the time; it is old and black with almost worn out decals, etc.); and I show it to everyone who comes in to visit. Everyone always says "How can you turn the wheel and keep the fabric straight under the needle at the same time?); and I don't know that answer, but you can do just that with no problem whatsoever without losing your focus. I'll make a picture of mine someday soon. I can type paragraphs of how much I love this board, but I can't post a picture.....

Great base! It elevates the machine from merely functional to art. Did you or someone you know make it?
I still haven't tried a hand crank but I do enjoy treadling. I have turned the wheel by hand on small fiddly things that require a lot of control, I think a hand crank machine would be great for that kind of work.

The base came with the machine. It needed a bit of repair when it arrived because the seller shipped the machine in the base and stressed out those two back joints. I used some Liquid Nails and hammered the nails back in and it's good as new.
Yeah, I think I paid $150.00 for the machine/base and another $27.00 or so for shipping. Well worth the cost.
I actually haven't sewn anything with it yet. I haven't had time.

I thought she said only the HC was made in China. The Asian clones usually have decorative decals like the Sphinx copy but this one looks 1950-ish.

Yay, a hand crank! I got one about 5 years ago at an antique mall near Platt City, Missouri. The tag said $75.00. Hubby asked me if I wanted it....I practically ran out of the store with it. It's a Singer with a dome cover. Sews a beautiful stitch. Congratulations on getting one!
