Default Help Featherweight Foot Pedal

It started squeeking while sewing today. Then it quit squeeking but now seems to be catching like it's out of alignment when I press on it. If I take the bottom off will it fly apart or something like that? I'm not mechanical. Would it be hard to put it back together? My machine is still running and sews like a champ I'm just concerned about the foot pedal.

My machine is 83 years young.

There are YouTube videos on how to repair featherweight foot pedals. Watch one and see if it is something you want to tackle.

I agree with Tartan. If it's not something you feel confident to attempt, find a good OSMG in your area. You can often find one thru a quilt guild.

Thanks, I received a PM with a link to a video site. It's fixed now. And in my neck of the woods I have to travel 80 to 100 miles round trip to get machine repair. Our town is what I jokingly call a 1/4 horse town instead of a 1 horse town. All of Woodruff county only has 6,570 people according to 2017 census and that's spread out between 4 towns and all the "country" in between.

You can purchase a replacement from Nova Montgomery online. She also has lots of featherweight videos on her site and she might have one about repairing the foot pedal.

I live in a large metropolitan area. It takes me an hour each way to get to my OSMG, but it's so worth it.
