The treadleon site calls it "Cast In Decoration Variation" These were introduced in 1928.

Check out Found a bronze embossed White rotary!

It looks like some call it "White Embossed" and some "Embossed White" that is still one that is on my wish list.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Thanks Janey,
That bonze plating really gives it a kick. Always good to learn a bit also.

Leon the embossed Whites came in black, bronze and I seem to remember there's a rare green or brown. A lot of times you see the bronze looking all shiny coppery from unknowing new owners polishing the daylights out of them only to find out they've ruined it.

I have a black one in a beautiful case. It sews perfectly, but the rumble of that kookie White drive system bugs me somehow. No amount of fiddling or new drive nubbies seems to help. I think the sound of that struggling little bogie goes sent straight to the cabinetry, which then serves as a soundboard. I have had a couple of the portables, and they don't rumble so bad. Still, it is such a beautiful machine that I keep it around. Mine is a 1938. Model 31, I think it is.
