Default How old is Vintage?

How old does a machine have to be to have the title "Vintage"? I think my machine is older then it feels (like me :-).

I think about starting at 50 years old is vintage. The "official" Antique designation is for over 100 years old.

Technically, the word "vintage" should be followed by a year or decade... as in "Vintage 1982" (I believe the term started with wine and vinyards, dunno for sure!)

I would think tho, the term has morphed into meaning that something is "older"....I'd say that to me, when referring to sewing machines would mean before 1970...but not quite antique.

I sew with a Singer 401a slant o matic. Never knew it was that old. I guess I can now claim that all my quilts are completed by a vintage sewing machine . . . and person :-)

I think next time anyone says something to me about being old I'll just tell them I'm a,"vintage" edition

Yeah, I feel like a VINTAGE edition! Well, maybe not. Some vintage things work much better than me.

I agree!!! But I'd say vintage is anything older than 1950 ------- ROL -- guess it's all according to when YOU start!!!! (I was born in 1950)

I have a 1928 treadle and I'm "only" 68, so I feel like I qualify as vintage. Also have a couple of 1940's and 50's.
