Default how to reattach venner on cabinet top?

Just got a Singer 27, but the top veneer layer is peeling. Purplefiend claims that there is a way to reactivate the original glue to reattach the veneer pieces. What is the best way to refinish the veneer?

Thanks

Hmm. I've just used wood glue with clamps.

I would dampen the wood with a rag soaked in warm water to keep the veneer from cracking, place a block of wood over the veneer and clamp it...after it's dry, you're going to want to seal it with shellac or varnish.

Glenn would be the one to ask tho...

You can reactivate the glue using an old iron...but put a piece of cloth under the iron so you don't scorch the veneer. You may have to have some weights handy to place on top to keep the surfaces together until the glue resets and cools.

I'm interested to know this too.
