I tried her at the store and she just purred along so beautifully. Cant wait to try the fancy stitches. Want them for applique as it seems no matter what new machine I use for them, I don't like the look of them or the sound the machine.
I have one just like it, and I love it! It's a real work horse, for sure.

I'd give my eye-teeth for that cabinet, let alone the machine. You won the jack-pot for sure.

Oh does this bring back memories. This is the exact machine I learned to sew on at 12 years old. I would love to have my mom's machine - just for old times sake. You are one lucky lady!

You are right, nothing beats the sound of an old Singer buzzing along.

These are wonderful machines. I have a 401,403 and a 503 . I cleaned up a friends 500 and fell in love with that. She rarely sews, lost the controller I gave her another, I told her she didn't deserve it and I was going to take it home with me. lol All mine need some cleanup work for something or other but they still run fine.

My mother bought that machine when she arrived in Canada from Holland in the early 50's. It runs still like a dream and has many many hours on it as she made clothes for 8 children and then I used it to make clothes as a teenager. Its coming to me one day and I can't wait.
