Caroline S, My machine's number is: 43 - 162477. There isn't any letter in it. And it is a plated number on the back of the machine. The best I can find out is somewhere from 1944-1949 was when they were made. Not really helpful.

If anyone else has more info, or how to find the info, I would love to know.

Thanks everyone for the support for her name. My DH thought it was kinda dumb. But after 40 years I know when to ignore his comments!!

One interesting part was that the owner of the machine has a different ruffler than the one shown in the manual, but she left the instrucions of that ruffler with the foot.
The manual has a diagram of the ruffler from Griest with each part labled and then 5 different ways to use it. I would be glad to share if anyone is interested or needs that info.

These lovely crinkle paint machines were made during or just after WWII and I learned on a White Rotary very similar to this 60 years ago. My daughter still has it. Please fix her up and get her in good order and she will last another 60 years. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Oh yes, bobbins are still available on Ebay and probably other sites. They are still popular.

Really pretty. Haven't seen one with the brown crinkle finish. Yours is so nice and definitely at the right price.

Just keep bringing those girls home Deb. Tell him it keeps you home and out of trouble. My DH has no idea how many machines I have LOL. My strategy is to keep rotating the portables in and out of closets. They all look them same to him, just junk. If he gets really smart mouthed I tell him that HIS BOAT and all of the NECESSARY MOTORS and fishing stuff cost WAY, WAY, WAY lot more than my few (ahem 27 now) vintage sewing machines.
