I think I've finally found a featherweight, with case and accessories. The picture on the ad is kind of blurry, so it's hard to see how good of condition it is in...but there doesn't look to be any major damage, and the ad says it's in working condition, the case looks to be in great condition. It's out of my city, but I have a good friend in the same city who is going to go get it for me and ship it to me asap. I've had a few FW deals fall through, so I'm trying not to get too excited...but I think this one will actually pan out and get me a new wee baby. Oh, and the price? $150. Not bad at all! :o)

featherweights are "fixable" if it is general good working order.

That's what I was thinking - no major damage, in working order, with case and accessories, for $150? Worth it, IMO, even if I do need to have it serviced (or maybe do a bit of work on it on my own).

I've been checking ebay for featherweights and they have quite a few of them with prices all the way from $50.00 to $500.00. I'm kind of afraid to buy one sight unseen. What is a good price to pay?

Congratulations, I hope it finds it way to you quickly.

karenpatrick, I know when my husband was thinking about buying one for me for Christmas, he said $200-$250 was a decent price on ebay. For what that's worth! :)

There are many FW enthusiasts here on the QB, I don't know a whole lot about them. But what I do know is that they're cute as all get out, vintage, and in high demand.

I've seen them priced $950+. I personally didn't want to spend more than $200, so while I've seen a ton of them, I wasn't willing to pay the asking price. So...it kind of depends on what you want in your FW, and how much you are willing to pay for it. I wanted decent cosmetic condition and good working order with an intact case and found it for $150, which, from what I understand is a low-average price.

My best featherweight was almost in "10" cosmetic condition when I bought it cheap, $168. The ebay seller said it needed work, wouldn't stitch properly. When I got it in the mail I knew right away what the problem was-- she had the needle in wrong! It's my favorite machine, I use it daily.
