Default Singer Queen Ann cabinet

In the course of refinishing my cabinet the arm supporting the table will no longer retract into the cabinet. Not sure if I broke something turning the cabinet upside down— or jiggled something loose. Anyone know how to fix

I have several different Singer cabinets. None of them retract automatically. I've not noticed a spring attachment on any of them.
When lifting the lid, I just push the support arm in.

Same with mine. They pop out when I open up the lid, but I have to push them back in when I close it.

It's my experience that you always have to push the support arm back in the cabinet after folding up the lid. I learned to sew on a 15-91 in a 65 cabinet as a young teen. I think that's just the way they work.
