Default I'd like Singer treadle info & a measurement please...........

I've got a couple of treadle iron bases around here. I want to use the Singer base I have and make a 'top' for it to install my Singer 66.

Can someone take a photo of the underside (pointing up) of a Singer treadle so I can see how things are connected on the underside of the right side?

Also, I would like a measurement of the thickness of the wood from the top of the iron base to the top of the table. I suppose I could just put some 1/2" wood over top of the base but I'm assuming the thickness of the wood top makes a difference in the 'throw' of the treadle.

Mom3,

The treadle frame is attached to the bottom of the top by 4 nice healthy #12x 1" ( I think )wood screws. The top wood is 7/8" thick on the treadle nearest to me. It has a 66 in it.
The thickness of the top wood will have no effect on the "throw" because there is nothing connecting the iron base to the machine except the belt. You just cut the belt to fit.

I'll check my files and see if there is a pic of the underside I can post.

Thanks, Joe.

By 'throw' I guess I was thinking if the length of the belt were shorter (because the wood top wasn't as thick) that the treadle action might be impeded. I guess another way to describing what I'm trying to say is that the treadle footpedal might not oscillate fully front-to-back.

Belt length won't affect it at all.

You get the same effect by switching from a solid hand wheel machine to a spoked hand wheel machine. You have to use a shorter belt for the spoked wheel. Doesn't change the treadle action at all.
