MacyBaby sent me a Singer 66 spoked hand wheel / bobbin winder set some time back. Today I was trying to adjust the little swing arm so the bobbin would wind evenly and I managed to break the end off the little spring under the arm .... .

Now I have a perfectly disfunctional bobbin winder. Whaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!

So I though I'd ask if anyone here would maybe have just that spring, or know where I could get one.

I've gotten bobbin winder springs from Sew Classic, but I'm not sure if she has that exact one in stock? Bet she could order one for you.

if you are feeling froggy, you can use a needle nose pair of pliers and re-bend the end. It would make the tension a bit higher but still functional. Move the metal slowly and it should not break.

Also, on most of mine like that, the spring actually has three anchor holes it can go into so you could reduce the tension back down that way.

if its the spring i had break in the middle of the coil, I found a coil spring in the hdwe store I was able to cut'& bend and it worked. welll 2nd try did

Is this what you need? This is off a broken bobbin winder from a 66, so I can easily spare it. I'll toss it in the box with the WW stuff (still gotta look for that small screw).



my husband was making noises this morning that sounded like "haul it all to the dump" while looking around the bags of Singer parts in his workroom.

Well, all may not be lost then. I'll try to rebend the end of the spring. I'll have to clean the spring pocket so I can see the holes. That's not hard.

I don't think that's the one I need. The one I need goes under the swing arm that guides the thread back and forth in the bobbin.
I think the spring you showed is for the main arm where it attaches to the belt guard.

And please do not let your DH dump those old parts no matter how grungy they might be. They are not making them any more and some day somebody will need them.

We went out to the bone yard and found this






The spring is still working - DH doesn't want to deal with it so I'll send the whole thing. Also discovered that the 115 has the same bobbin winder setup, so I've got two more junk machines with intact springs - otherwise DH might not wish to send this one down the road.
