Lets gather our Sewing Machine Manuals!
I spent hours on trying to find a Necchi Supernova repair manual on line. Eventually I found one on an obscure site...
I propose that we have a dedicated section to photocopy and compile all of our sewing machine manuals. That would be so helpful to all of us for our vintage machines. I don't know the logistics of getting this done on this site but I think it would be so helpful and informative to all of us.

Most vintage sewing machine yahoo groups have many manuals available for free download. All you have to do is join the group and look through their files. If you join the vintage Necchi group there, I'm betting there are several manuals available.

I have made copies of any and all sewing machine manuals i have, put them into pdf form on computer , then emailed myself a copy. So no matter where i am, I can bring up a copy on any computer. if my computer would crash i could still bring up email i saved with pdf copy. i love that Singer has their manuals online for free!

Excellent idea Dan. If we could not have a dedicated section with a "sticky" at least we could have one where we could list the manuals we have in our possession. Or the list of the links where there are free online downloads.

Speaking as someone who works in IT as their day job, I'm going to play the devil's advocate.
Hosting these manuals can get extremely heavy as far as the harddrive space required, and the amount of bandwidth used. Bandwidth, as all of the dial up users know, is very limited, and can get very expensive for the company hosting the board if people are downloading these manuals like crazy. It can also slow the site down. If there are a lot of people downloading the manuals, there's less bandwidth available to the rest of the site.
That said, I think it's a heck of a good idea. I'd suggest that the board have something like a "dropbox" account, and post the links from there. Some sort of "cloud" storage that wouldn't affect the performance of QB.

Great idea! I need to figure out how to use my Adobe program, shouldn't be too hard. I'm making a manual for my Belvedere Adler 950-B because there isn't one anywhere, not even for sale. I've taken pictures, etc. and put those on my blog along with the promise to make a downloadable pdf. You're idea will get me motivated to finish it!
