I found this beautiful little lady at out local Goodwill store today, my DH told me that I could get her. The foot pedal pulled loose when I started to pay for it, but DH fixed it for me. She sews like a dream, it will probably be summer before I get her cleaned up good.
I checked the SN: EN014786, she is a 99 K, Date Allotted: Jan. 23, 1958, she is 1 of 50,000 made in Clydebank, Scotland at the Kilbowie Plant.
If she could only talk, she could tell us about all the wonderful and beautiful quilts that she has had sewn on her. I am going to name her after my mother, Ruthie Irene, that is what my grandmother called her when she would get into trouble. Her name was Ruth Irene, she has been gone for 17 years come Feb. 9, 2011. She is the one that taught me to love fabric and to sew. She loved to make quilts but I never got one of hers. I am going to try to add pictures but I am not sure if I will get them on here, it not I will try to tomorrow with my GD help.
