I just watched Muvs tutorial on how to oil and lubricate machines. She said use metal polish on the metal parts. I have Twinkle silver polish by Johnson. Will that work? Or what is your favorite brand and where do you find it?

I have mothers metal polish from the auto section. Honestly, it was easier to soak all the parts in water with some oxy clean dissolved in it and it worked better. It was amazing how the nasties just dissolved off without any rubbing.

How much oxy clean to how much water?

I'm guessing I put a teaspoon or so in about 3 cups of hot water? I only put the silver parts in, nothing with paint just to be safe. But oxy clean is just peroxide and oxygen so its nothing heavy duty anyways. I even take the tension assembly apart and let it soak too. 20 minutes is plenty of time. Then I rinse it all thoroughly and let it dry completely before putting back on.

I use Maas, and love it, but the Oxi Clean sounds like an interesting thing to try.
